The Kinky Curly Theological Collective is committed to restoring wellness in the lives of African and African American women practitioners. As a result of living in a white supremacist culture that has robbed women of our identity, language, and heritage, many are deeply wounded. In addition, the daily lived aggressions continue to put undue stress upon women which impedes the ability of many to lead and teach well. This collective will address this by centering self care, deepening connections among women and community, celebrating each other, and having a healthy understanding of who we are in relation to our Creator.
In addition, the Kinky Curly Theological Collective will focus on increasing the awareness of practitioners’ existing community cultural capital. We will uplift and prioritize the assets that are abundant in our communities that enable us to survive and thrive well. And while oppression is a reality as a result of slavery and colonization, we will seek to uncover stories about our genesis based in liberation and freedom.
